In the post-epidemic era, the term "revenge consumption" explains a great deal of the social phenomena that is currently taking place. Consumer goods are gradually being submerged in the sea of endless desire with the behavior of mass consumption. Artist Yuan Song's series “High Light” carries on the spirit of his previous series “Landscape”, showing his ongoing concern for “consumerism” in this series.
The mirrors set in a two-dimensional plane, the use of multiple materials, images and highly saturated colors, and the methods of interspersing, superimposition, and nesting elevate the overall image beyond the flat space by building a visual space that appears to be something other than what it is, creating a dazzling visual scene while giving viewers a complex visual experience.
While exploring the "reality and illusion", it reflects the material world in which people live now through the phenomenon of commodity circulation implied by the vortex structure of the images, and asks the audience whether these so-called "illusions" are the "truth" of the world?
